Who we are and what we do
At Watab we strive to guide homeowners, realtors, contractors and prospective homeowners through the septic system design and compliance inspection process. Our team has extensive knowledge of state and county regulations. We also work with and can recommend septic system maintainers (pumpers), installers, surveyors and engineers throughout Minnesota.

The Watab Inc Team
Tim HaegTim grew up in Collegeville and graduated from St. John’s University with a degree in Biology and a minor in Environmental Studies. When Tim worked as an inspector for Stearns County, he saw a need for both homeowners and contractors to have septic system designs and inspections that went beyond what was being offered, so in 2000, Watab was created. Two of Tim’s main interests are science and technology, and he has combined these disciplines at Watab to create complete, comprehensive products for clients. Tim is licensed by the state of Minnesota as an installer, service provider, advanced designer and advanced inspector. When Tim isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, preferably by a lake. Tim also likes to hunt, travel, haul rocks or cut wood. He also participates in several professional organizations and frequently presents at MOWA events, assists the University of Minnesota with research development and attends industry educational conferences.
Don FischerDon Fischer has worked with Watab since 2003. Born and raised in Avon, Minnesota, Don served in the Marine Corps for four years. He traveled all over the world with the Corps, including a yearlong tour in Okinawa, Japan. After his service, Don settled in Cold Spring with his wife and son. On the weekends, you can find Don and his family at their cabin in Northern Minnesota where they enjoy fishing, swimming and toasting marshmallows. Don is also an avid hunter and enjoys hunting and fishing during the winter months. Don has many years of various construction experiences under his belt and is an excellent welder, a skilled backhoe operator and drives a speedy skid steer. Don is a certified septic system inspector, designer and installer.
Megan McNairAs the only non-native Minnesotan at Watab, Megan was born and raised in a small town in Alaska. After attending College of St. Benedict and the St. Cloud State School of Graduate Studies, Megan and her husband decided to stay in Central Minnesota to raise their four children. Megan has been with Watab since 2005 and is the office manager. Megan is responsible for job scheduling, research and coordination, a perfect job for someone who loves to multi-task. When Megan isn’t answering the phone at Watab, she is busy gardening with her family, running, biking or swimming.
Ben PfluegerBen Pflueger joined Watab in 2012. As a Minnesota native, his favorite part of Minnesota is the weather. Ben lives in Collegeville, and he and his family enjoy fishing, hunting and gardening together - in that order. At Watab, we can always count on Ben to go the extra mile to get the job done, as well as provide comic relief in tough situations. Ben is a graduate of St. John’s prep school and spent four years with the Marine Corps, with three years in Iraq. After his service, Ben spent six years in Idaho running a granite countertop business. Currently, Ben is attending classes for septic system inspection, design and installation.
Jen BurgJen has recently returned to Watab after graduating from St. Cloud State University with a Business Management major and a minor in Biology and working at Stearns County for several years. Jen grew up on a dairy farm in St. Joseph and now lives in the city of St. Joseph with her husband and young son but no cows.
